Tending the Soil’s
2026 IMPACT REPORT
While Tending the Soil MN formed in 2018, its roots were planted long ago, sprouting from coalitions dating back to 2008.
Through the shared struggle to improve the lives of working poor Minnesotans, what emerged was a deepened commitment by the core organizations to align, long-term.
While our policy priorities may diverge from time to time, our collective analysis of power and organizing strategies are aligned.
ABOUT US
Tending the Soil (TTS) is an alignment of five, power building non-profits and labor organizations led by working class, BIPOC community leaders with a long history of effective and equitable organizing. The organizations that make up Tending the Soil represent more than 10,000 Minnesotans and include:
Centro de Trabajadores Unidos en la Lucha (CTUL)

New Justice Project
(NJP)
New Justice Project builds multi-racial, multi-generational, and multi-faith coalitions, collaborating with Brown, Indigenous, and immigrant organizations to achieve meaningful and transformative change.
SEIU Local 26
SEIU Local 26 is Minnesota’s Property Services Union. We are janitors, security officers and window cleaners, more than 8,000 strong in the Twin Cities metro area. Across North America, SEIU unites 225,000 members in property services.
Unidos MN
Born from the strength of the DREAMER movement, Unidos MN is a grassroots organization that builds power with Minnesota's working families to advance social, racial, and economic justice for all. As an intersectional and intergenerational organization, we unite people from all backgrounds to fight for a future where everyone can thrive no exceptions.
YOUR IMPACT
“Minnesota taught us to be brave.”
All together, with the help of dedicated and caring people like yourself, over 2,400 people from around the world contributed over $1.8 million to Tending the Soil and our partners.
Generosity was a global movement during Operation Metro Surge. Whether in Australia, Japan, Nigeria, or the United States, international solidarity was palpable and on full display. Beyond the dollars and cents of support, seeing your fearless faces on the news as you marched in the streets with us from wherever you were kept us going.
We will never forget the chants in Boston and Chicago, “We’re not cold, we’re not afraid, Minnesota taught us to be brave!”
